When Should I Book My Newborn Photography Session?
The ideal time to book your newborn session is during your second trimester, usually after your 20-week scan. This allows me to reserve space around your due date while remaining flexible should your little one decide to arrive earlier or later than expected.
Your baby's portrait session will usually take place within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are often sleepier and naturally curl into those beautiful newborn poses. However, if your baby is older than two weeks, please don't worry. Beautiful photographs can be created at any stage, and every baby brings their own unique personality to their session.
Before You Arrive
Before your session, I'll send you everything you need to know so you can arrive feeling relaxed and prepared.
You don't need to bring lots of props or outfits. I believe your baby should always be the focus of your photographs. My carefully chosen wraps, blankets and timeless accessories are designed to complement your baby rather than distract from them.
Simple neutral clothing for parents creates a beautiful, classic look that keeps the attention on your growing family.
A Calm, Baby-Led Experience
Every newborn session at my welcoming studio in Shaldon, near Teignmouth, is completely baby-led.
There is never any rush.
If your little one needs feeding, changing, cuddles or simply a few extra moments to settle, we pause whenever needed. Their comfort and wellbeing will always come first.
Some babies sleep throughout the entire session, while others prefer to stay awake and take in the world around them. Both are completely normal, and both create beautiful memories.
Your Baby's Safety Is Always My Priority
As a newborn photographer, your baby's safety is the most important part of every session.
Every pose is created gently and naturally, with your baby's comfort at the heart of every decision. I never force poses or place babies into positions that don't feel comfortable for them.
Creating a calm, safe environment allows everyone to relax and enjoy the experience.

How Long Does a Newborn Session Last?
Every baby is different, so there isn't a strict timetable.
Most newborn sessions last between two and three hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, changing, settling and comforting your baby whenever necessary.
There is absolutely no expectation for your baby to sleep the entire time, and there is never any pressure to hurry.
What Should We Wear?
I always recommend choosing soft, neutral colours and comfortable clothing that allows you to move naturally with your baby.
Creams, whites, soft greys, muted greens and earthy tones photograph beautifully and create timeless images that won't date over the years.
Avoid large logos, bright patterns or clothing that distracts from the connection between you and your family.
After Your Session
Once your photographs have been carefully edited in my signature natural style, you'll be invited to view your gallery and choose your favourite images.
