WHAT TO EXPECT & HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR
NEWBORN SESSION
AT 27 FORE STREET, SHALDON, TQ14 0DE

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Bring the essentials
Nappies, bottle, dummy's etc. You are also welcome to bring your breast pump. There is a wall divider I can put in place for privacy or the studio closet is available.
Wear comfy clothes
It can get very warm in the studio! You can come dressed in comfy clothes and if you're doing family photos, you can change behind the wall divider in the studio or the backroom.
Food and snacks
You are welcome to bring food and eat at the studio. I provide some biscuits, water & hot beverages. You are also welcome to visit the local bakery or cafe just down the road!
Travelling a long distance?
If traveling a long distance, please keep baby awake as much as possible.
Feeding
If possible please fully feed baby 30 minutes before the session. {You are more than welcome to arrive up to 30 minutes early to feed as I will be already in the studio. }
Bringing a dummy on the session day can also help keeping baby asleep when getting into poses. This does not cause nipple confusion if breastfeeding as it's only for a few minutes at a time.
A warm bath & clothing
A nice warm bath can also get newborn babies more comfortable.
Please dress baby in ONE babygrow that poppers/zips from the front & doesn't have to be pulled over their head. Add a blanket if you are worried about them getting cold.

ON YOUR SESSION DAY

How long will the session be?
Newborn Sessions can take up to 3 hours. I don't rush my newborn sessions and I like to follow the baby's lead. Making sure baby is comfortable is my number one priority. Most of the time is spent soothing baby. It's good to come to the studio as relaxed as possible as babies can feel if your stressed. I do not force baby to do anything they do not want to do so all poses you request are only if your little one is up for it!
Feeding during the session
It is essential to feed baby a few times during a newborn session. If you're breastfeeding it is best to keep a good breastfeeding diet a few days before your session. More information can be found online about the types you can avoid. Although it does not ensure the baby will be comfy, it sure does help.
If your bottle feeding, bring plenty of formula/ expressed milk.
Tips
Bring plenty of muslins, wipes & nappies. I do have spares in case the mum brain kicks in!
Please bring a dummy with you, this can seriously save a session when baby gets fussy! Even if they've never had one before.
Please avoid using creams/ lotions on the morning of your shoot as these can affect my backdrop fabrics and leave stains.
