I always recommend booking your newborn photography session during your second trimester, usually after your 20-week scan.
By this stage, many parents feel more confident making plans, and it's the perfect time to secure availability around your due date.
Because newborn photography is such a specialised service, photographers often accept a limited number of newborn bookings each month to ensure every family receives a relaxed, flexible experience.
Booking during pregnancy gives you the best chance of securing your preferred photographer and removes one more thing from your growing to-do list.
We Don't Book a Fixed Date
One of the biggest misconceptions about newborn photography is that you need to know exactly when your baby will arrive.
Thankfully, that's not how it works.
Instead of booking a specific session date months in advance, I reserve space around your estimated due date.
Once your baby is here, all you need to do is send me a quick message. We'll then arrange your session based on your baby's arrival, ensuring they're photographed at the most suitable time.
This flexible approach means you don't have to worry if your little one decides to arrive a week early or keep everyone waiting a little longer than expected!
Why the First Two Weeks Are So Popular
Most newborn sessions take place within the first 5 to 14 days after birth.
During these early days, babies are often:
Sleepier
Naturally curled
More settled during gentle posing
Happy to snooze through much of the session
That said, every baby is wonderfully different, and I always work at their pace.
Your baby's comfort and wellbeing are far more important than following a timetable.
What If My Baby Arrives Early or Late?

Whenever possible, I'll do my best to fit in last-minute bookings.
While availability can't always be guaranteed, there are often opportunities if my diary allows.

WHAT IF MY BABY IS HAVING A BAD DAY DURING THE SESSION?
Your baby's safety and well-being is my biggest priority. If we have tried everything to settle them and they are just not happy. We will reschedule to another day when they are feeling better! All sessions have 1 postponement option.
CAN SIBLINGS JOIN?
Absolutely! Siblings are their new best friends and I always encourage them to get involved. Do keep an open mind though as younger siblings can be stubborn to participate sometimes! Bribery sometimes is key!
HOW DO I BOOK A NEWBORN SESSION WHEN I DON'T KNOW WHEN MY BABY WILL ARRIVE?
It is really important to book whilst your pregnant to reduce to risk of no availability. Your booking will confirm your space in my diary for your session. We can also reserve a date within 7-10 days after your due date and adjust if required.
